This year’s Leverhulme Summer Cycle is set to be bigger and better than ever with extra stalls and fun activities lined up.
There will be a range of independent and local food and drink producers and lots of new activities including PopVox Choir, Read Now, Write Now and Little Lambs Tales.
Over a hundred people have so far registered for the event, which starts at Claire House before moving on to four miles of tree-lined, traffic-free Leverhulme tracks at Brimstage Hall and Courtyard.
Parking will be available at Claire House although participants are encouraged to travel by bike, with details of best routes available upon registration. Adapted cycles or trikes are permitted to start at Brimstage Hall.
This is the third year that the event has been held and cyclists of all ages and abilities are invited to take part. People who would just like to walk the paths are welcome too. The event, which is free, will take place on Sunday, September 25th between 10am-4pm.
Last year’s event raised over £1,000 for Claire House and volunteers from the charity will be fundraising again on the day.
The leisure bike ride will include the opportunity to sample the delights of various independent stallholders located on the cycle route as well as outlets at Brimstage Hall & Courtyard.
Just Riding Along & Energise Cycles will be coming along to do Dr Bike sessions and various independent businesses will be on hand to provide refreshments, including Ebby’s Espresso, The Chocolate Cellar and Hyacinth Vintage Ice-Cream.
Others taking part in the day include Wirral Environmental Network, Merseyside Cycling Campaign, Eco Art in the Park, Calm at Church Farm and two theatre groups.
Ed Lamb, one of the founders of Rethink Now, which campaigns for stronger, healthier communities through environmental sustainability, said: “We’re delighted to have even more exhibitors and a host of activities at this year’s Leverhulme Summer Cycle. Whether people want to cycle or just walk the paths, it promises to be a great day out for all ages.”
Tom O’Leary, Leverhulme’s Estate Manager, said: “We’re busy preparing the cycling tracks and really looking forward to welcoming visitors back again for the third year.”
