The Leverhulme Summer Cycle will return to the Wirral this September.
Registrations are now open for the popular event which is held on the tree-lined, traffic-free, tracks of the Leverhulme Estate in Brimstage. To book your place visit: https://leverhulmesummercycle.eventbrite.co.uk
It is the third year that the event has been held and cyclists of all ages and abilities are invited to take part.
Event organisers Rethink Now have confirmed that the event will return on Sunday, September 25th between 10am-4pm.
The leisure bike ride will include the opportunity to sample the delights of various independent stallholders located on the cycle route as well as outlets at Brimstage Hall & Courtyard.
Adding to the atmosphere will be PopVox Choir, who are sponsored by The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, Paul McCartney’s Theatre School. PopVox is one the most professional amateur pop choirs in the UK.
Also appearing will be Little Lamb Tales, run by Jude Lennon, a Liverpool-based author and professional storyteller. Jude, who is also the current Disney Winnie the Pooh Laureate for the North West, will be running Builder Book den building sessions where children and families can create dens with soft building bricks.
Just Riding Along & Energise Cycles will be coming along to do the Dr Bike sessions and various independent businesses will be on hand to provide refreshments, including The Chocolate Cellar and Hyacinth Vintage Ice-Cream.
In September 2021, hundreds of cyclists, from toddlers to octogenarians, got on their bikes to explore over 4 miles of tracks, while others chose to walk the paths which extend from Brimstage to neighbouring Thornton Hough.
Ed Lamb, one of the founders of Rethink Now, which campaigns for stronger, healthier communities through environmental sustainability, said: “We are looking forward to bringing the Leverhulme Summer Cycle to the Wirral for a third year.
“It is a free, family-friendly event which encourages people to get out on their bikes in a traffic-free environment. It is always a lovely event.
“We have lots of stalls and activities, including a number of independent food retailers and a vintage ice-cream van, and it’s a great opportunity for family and friends of spend time together outdoors.”
Tom O’Leary, Leverhulme’s Estate Manager, said: “It is great news that the Summer Cycle will return in September this year.
“We had some lovely feedback from people who attended the last two Summer Cycles and we’re looking forward to opening our cycling tracks up again.”
